All these things I have considered, and applied my heart to all the works that are done under the sun. Sometimes one man ruleth over another to his own hurt.
I saw all this. I thought very hard about the things that happen in this world. I saw that people always struggle for the power to rule others, and this is bad for them.
I saw all these things that happen on the earth. I thought about them a lot. I thought about the things that happen on the earth. I saw that people sometimes use their power to hurt other people.
All this I saw while I was applying my heart to every work done under the sun, during this time when one man has power over another to harm him.
All this I observed while applying my heart to all that is done under the sun, when man had power over man to his hurt.
All this I observed while applying my heart to all that is done under the sun, when man had power over man to his hurt.
I saw all of this as I ·considered [L gave my heart to] all that is done here ·on earth [L under the sun; 1:3]. Sometimes people harm those they control.
All this have I seen, and have given mine heart to every work which is wrought under the sun, and I saw a time that man ruleth over man to his own hurt.
I have seen all of this, and I have carefully considered all that is done under the sun whenever one person has authority to hurt others.
I saw all this when I thought about the things that are done in this world, a world where some people have power and others have to suffer under them.
All this I have seen, applying my mind to all the work that is done under the sun, at a time when one man has authority over another to his harm.
I saw all of this as I studied. I considered all that is done here on earth. And I saw men rule others and hurt them.
I observed all this, and carefully considered everything that is undertaken on earth, especially the time when someone dominates another to his detriment.
¶ All this I have seen and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: the time in which one man rules over another to his own hurt.

I have thought deeply about all that goes on here in the world, where people have the power of injuring each other. I have seen wicked men buried, and as their friends returned from the cemetery, having forgotten all the dead man’s evil deeds, these men were praised in the very city where they had committed their many crimes! How odd!
All this I observed as I tried my best to understand all that’s going on in this world. As long as men and women have the power to hurt each other, this is the way it is.
All this I saw while applying my heart to every work that is done under the sun, when one man rules over another to the other’s hurt.
I have seen all of this, and I have carefully considered all that is done under the sun whenever one person has authority to hurt others.
All these things I saw and I applied my heart to every work that is done under the sun, while one person tyrannizes over another for harm.
All this I have seen, and have applied my mind to every deed that has been done under the sun at a time when one person has exercised authority over another person to his detriment.

I understood all these things. I used my mind to study everything that’s done on earth. A man sometimes makes life hard for others. But he ends up hurting himself.
All this I saw, as I applied my mind to everything done under the sun. There is a time when a man lords it over others to his own hurt.

I beheld all these things, and I gave mine heart in(to) all works, that be done under the sun. Sometime a man is lord of a man, to his evil.
All this I have seen so as to give my heart to every work that hath been done under the sun; a time that man hath ruled over man to his own evil.
